Spatio-Temporal Performance of 2D Local Inertial Hydrodynamic Models for Urban Drainage and Dam-Break Applications
Published in Journal of Hydrology, 2025
In this paper, we show for the first time that local inertial models can simulate dam-break (supercritical flows) and have a skillful prediction of flood inundation extents while having a nearly 30-fold faster computational performance compared to traditional full hydrodynamic models. We also show that omitting urban drainage features can make simulations unrealistic and nearly double computational time.
